What is Dragon Ball Super?

How Dragon Ball Super fits into the Dragon Ball Universe.

Power, Strength, Golden Hair, and a “Never Give Up Formula” – this is Dragon Ball Super. The Dragon Ball Series starts with Dragon Ball, then Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and finally Dragon Ball Super. There is also Super Dragon Ball Heroes but it is focused around the card and video games rather than the anime/manga. If you want to follow a continuous storyline, it goes Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and then Dragon Ball Super.

Dragon Ball Super starts after the Majin Buu Saga.

Dragon Ball Super continues the story of Goku and his friends in the aftermath of the events of the Majin Buu Saga… Yes, that pink villain that turned Vegeta against Z fighters for the last time. The series spanned through 131 episodes featuring 6 majestic arcs and 1 sequel film. The series begins by retelling the story of feature films Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. This contributes to the first two arcs. The following five arcs continue the story of the Z fighters where things go beyond earth.

The storyline revolves around Goku and his quest to become the greatest fighter of all time. When he meets God of Destruction, Beerus, his fate changes forever and leads to the events of the first arc, the God of Destruction Beerus Saga.

The next arc, the Golden Frieza Saga, marks the return of Frieza as he is revived to save the Third Stellar Region. However, he takes revenge on Goku and Vegeta first.

The third arc, Universe 6 Saga, takes things beyond earth when 12 other universes are revealed and God of Destruction from Universe 6, Champa, arrives. He arranges the Tournament of Destroyers between Universe 6 and 7 to satisfy his pleasure.

The following arc, Copy-Vegeta Saga, was a short one but shows us the battle of the two greatest rivals: Goku and Vegeta, Duplicate Vegeta in this case. We get to see the finest battle again after so many years.

Dragon Ball Super’s Ultimate Battle: Goku vs Jiren

The arc is followed by Future Trunks Saga where things get much worse than the last time Future Trunks arrived on Earth. The saga showed the evil counterpart of Goku, Goku Black, and the destruction he caused in that timeline. This leads to the last and the longest-running arc, Universal Saga Arc, where things got more intense as each participant fought for the survival of their universes. The arc showed the greatest battles of all time and so many characters with different battle styles. The most spectacular battle in the entire Dragon Ball Franchise, the Ultimate Battle of All Universes: Goku vs Jiren is also featured in this arc.

Dragon Ball Super was different from its previous counterparts as the plot involves godly beings, universe traveling, inter-universe tournaments, and much more. It excites the viewers with powerful transformations of Goku and Vegeta as they fight to save Earth along with some of the most powerful enemies the series has ever seen as well as pitting them against other powerful beings of different universes.
